Improvisation for Coaches: Presented at Converge 2017, the ICF Global Conference

Workshop * Friday, August 25, 2017 * 2:30-4:00 PM
The Washington Marriott Wardman Park, Washington, DC

Like all humans, we coaches are creatures of habit, subject to our own filters, learning, egos, and blind spots. How can coaching professionals–from the newest to the most seasoned–step out of our default patterns and comfort zones to truly dance in the moment? In this highly experiential workshop, coaches will learn the basic rules and skills of improvisation, developing core competencies in an entirely new way. By letting go of control and engaging in true collaboration, coaches will experience greater freedom, creativity, listening, presence, power, and willingness to take risks and go deeper into the unknown. Coaches will walk away with a toolkit of exercises to use for their own continued development and with clients.

6:00 pm – 9:15 pm (includes dinner)
NHS Learning Center at 350 Sentry Parkway East, Building 640, 2nd Floor, Blue Bell, PA 19422

“Success in life may have more to do with how fast you can accept and get started on the new game than with how good you got at playing any of the old ones.” –David Allen

Our lives, and the lives of our clients, call for constant improvisation and on-the-spot communication. We live and work in a world of constant change. Improvisation skills can help us “get in the game” and play full out—even as the game changes!

Most people think improv is a skill you’re born with or not. The truth is that the skills of improvisation can be learned and practiced, and can help you up your personal and professional game.

In this experiential workshop with Carrie Spaulding, coaches will learn the basic rules and skills of improvisation, developing core competencies while playing and having fun. You’ll learn how improv can help you and your clients with communication, decision-making, confidence, collaboration, presence, flexibility, trust, dancing in the moment, and more.

You’ll get specific exercises you can use for your own development and with clients…and you are 99.9% guaranteed to see yourself and your colleagues in a new way!

Program Format:

6:00-6:30 pm New Member Meet & Greet and Registration
6:30 pm Dinner served
6:45-9:00 pm Program (ICF-credentialed coaches may receive CCEs for this program)
